Induction heater ITO 400/3-C was reconstructed for Škoda Auto Mladá Boleslav company (cell #1) and it is used for induction heating of steel billets with circular cross-section up to forging temperature.
The aim of the reconstruction was to modify the connection of the inductor to enable the use of the new inductor design. As a result of this modification the time of the inductor replacement is significantly reduced (cca up to 10 minutes). A change of the cooling system was made as well as the changes of the heater box frame and inductor bus bars.
The temperature of each piece is measured by a contactless thermometer and its value can be stored in PLC memory. The operator communicates with the heater by means of HMI panel where the operating heating parameters can be set. Also all failures of the heater are displayed in text on this panel.
