Induction heater ITO 630/1,5-A owned by HKS Forge Ltd. Trnava in Slovakia was overhauled. The aim was to enable the heater operator to insert the billets from floor level of the forge, equip the heater with a sorter of heated billets and replace the thyristor frequency converter with a new one.
The original input module was replaced with a new one with an oblique conveyor and a hydraulic pressure bar. The operator puts cold billets from floor level to the beds of the obligue conveyor. The obligue conveyor places cold billets in front of the hydraulic pressure bar which inserts them into the inductor in a pre-set cycle.
Heated billets fall out of the inductor onto a chute which glide the properly heated billets in a straight direction into a press. If the billets are overheated or, conversely, underheated they fall out on a tilting chute and to a conveyor. From there they are carried by means of two chains to the conveyor end, where they are sorted out by a mechanical flap to particular pallets.
A new electric device with OPLC is placed in the heater box. Moreover, all components of pneumatic and electrical distribution were replaced. Newly, in the heater there is an integrated dual-circuit water cooling system with a closed loop cooling system.
The temperature of each heated piece is measured by a contactless thermometer (pyrometer) and its value and the time of measurement can be stored in PLC memory.
